Yes, this pen does actually write, but it only contains about half the ink of a normal pen.  The Pen Recorder can be used for most audio recording applications because of its size and functionality.  This model has optional voice activation, discreet record button and long battery life.  For other functions such as playback or changing settings, there is a remote control included, as well as a USB connector for downloading and deleting files.
