To activate this very noisy 130 db personal alarm you simply pull the rope.  Whatever happens after that depends on many factors.  The alarm may scare off an attacker, it may attract other people who could help you, it may cause a distraction that allows you to escape, or it may have very little effect.  You can never predict the actions of an attacker, but unlike them, you can predict this disruptive alarm noise when you activate it.

In addition to the rope, this alarm comes with a door contact.  The contact is designed to squeeze in a door or window, where it will trigger the alarm if the contact is opened, which is what would happen if the door or window is opened.  The purpose of this function is to give you the option of a portable door alarm.
